Welcome to the TRFSEF - and thank you for your commitment to the marvelous young people we serve. Judging is the key component of any science and engineering fair! The 2020 TRFSEF will be held using GoToMeeting online tools on Saturday, April 4th. We encourage every judge to match the typical fair commitment of morning and afternoon hours, meeting with high school students in the morning and mostly middle school students in the afternoon.
If you have only the morning or afternoon free on the 4th, DON'T WORRY! You will still have a great experience and make a difference for every student whom you interview!
To judge at the Senior RED level, please have at least a college degree in STEM or education, or 10 years' experience as a journeyman. To judge all other divisions, please have at least a high school diploma or GED.
You will find resources on the JUDGES page at TerraFairs.org/Rochester.
Registered judges will be judging in a TRFSEF virtual "room" with individual and team projects presenting on a schedule. Then your judging in that room deliberates and recommends special awards. As noted above, ideally judges will serve from 9-noon, then 1-4p on Saturday, April 4, just about the same time commitment as for a fair at the RMSC.
We will arrange for a training the week of March 30th, so we can verify your access, check your mike, and train everyone on the judging process and rubric. Watch for emails with the links to sign up for the trainings - and THANK YOU for your commitment to our wonderful young people!
